Digital Technology

This term in the HIVE, students in Year 4-5 have been looking forward to using netbooks next year, as have Year 6 as they approach high school next year. To prepare for the new devices, they have been practising using the Microsoft programs to create a variety of documents and presentations. First, they utilised Microsoft Word to type recounts and recipes and stylise their writing. Later, they practised gathering data samples by recording their heights or a shopping list into Microsoft Excel where they could sort and manipulate their data. Finally, they developed a variety of stylish presentations in Microsoft PowerPoint about a variety of items they find interesting, complete with animations and transitions.
All students in the HIVE have also been working very hard to prepare pieces of digital art to go on display at in the upcoming art show. They have utilised programs on the HIVE iPads as well as the Macs and PCs to create a variety of artworks that will be on display. The artworks they have been creating include but are not limited to, Pixel Art Drawings, 3D Models and Minecraft Builds. Students are very proud of their creations and look forward to having them on display.
