Principal's Report 

Dear Parents and Carers,

Thank you to those many parents and students who welcomed me back from my holiday. I had the most wonderful time in Europe with my family and it was certainly a trip we will all remember for some time. And whilst it was amazing, it did mean I missed out on what was reported as an absolutely amazing Wakakirri performance by our super-star performers. Miss Chloe has worked so hard with these students over many weeks, and the reward was an outstanding performance in front of a packed house. 

Congratulations to all of the students involved, to Chloe Rae for her choreography and to Jack Davidson for his organisation of the event. A great result all round!  

If that wasn't enough, our Tournament of Minds students competed over the weekend, and they too truly outdid themselves with a brilliant response to the challenging question. For a small team of seven students, they certainly challenged themselves and took it right up to the competition. Again a huge thank you to Jack Davidson and to Lauren Wishart for leading this team of champions, especially over a weekend!

Next Monday, our school athletics team will be competing at the District Athletics meet. We have a team of approximately 35 students representing Mackellar and we know that they will do an amazing job and give it their all. Good luck athletes and thank you Miss Emily for coaching the team in preparation.

This week we welcome back Mr Graham to our classrooms as he continues his great work coaching and mentoring our teachers to be the best teachers of English they can be. Stephen has been a long time partner of Mackellar developing the skill of our teachers, captivating our students with his engaging teaching style and working with our whole staff on after school professional development. It's great to have him back. 

The stop work planned by the Australian Education Union for this Wednesday has been cancelled, with the majority of members accepting the government's revised offer. As such, school on Wednesday will operate as normal.  Further details will be sent to parents via XUNO shortly. 

Finally, a very big thank you to Kylie Kennedy for doing an amazing job in the role of Acting Principal whilst I was away. Kylie was steadfast in not letting me do any work whilst I was away, and telling me off if I emailed her during my trip. She was very well supported by our entire leadership team, which is not surprising considering the skill of each of them. A huge thank you to them all.
