Resource Centre
As we settle into Term 3, we are looking forward to three exciting events in the Resource Centre. The first is our annual Book Fair, followed by Book Week, which includes our much-loved Annual Character Parade. Finally, we will conclude the term with the close of the Premier's Reading Challenge.
Keep an eye out for new articles and updates in future newsletters as the term progresses.
New Arrivals for July
Year 10 Work Experience Students
This week, we have welcomed a number of work experience students to the Library. Some have been with us for the entire week, while others have joined us for shorter periods.
During their time with us, they have assisted with rearranging our collections, including researching the reading levels of books and series, evaluating circulation data, and relabelling books with newly designed labels. They have also helped move books into new sections and reshelve those that had been relabelled. In addition, they have assisted with loaning books to students during Primary Library lessons.
Other tasks completed by our work experience students have included returning, cleaning and reshelving books, as well as setting up displays. Their assistance has been greatly appreciated, and they have made a valuable contribution to the Library.
Scholastic Book Fair
This year's Book Fair will run alongside the Primary Parent Teacher Interviews. Families are invited to visit the Book Fair before or after their scheduled interviews.
Leading up to this event, students will have the opportunity to visit the Book Fair with their class group during the school day to create a wishlist.

Book Week 2026
Book Week 2026: Symphony of Stories
The Children's Book Council of Australia (CBCA) has been inspiring generations of young readers since 1945 by celebrating the outstanding work of Australian authors and illustrators.
Each year, CBCA Book Week brings stories to life in schools and libraries across the country. It is a week filled with imagination, creativity and fun, featuring:

🎭 Dress up days and character parades
🎉 Book fairs and competitions
📚 And so much more

Costume Ideas
This year's theme is "Symphony of Stories". Why not use this as your starting point when designing your costume for the parade? Could you dress up as a conductor, a musical instrument, or join with friends to represent one of the four instrumental families: woodwind, brass, percussion or strings?
The only limit is your imagination. We cannot wait to see the bold, brave and bookish costumes you create!

2026 NSW Premier's Reading Challenge
We are beginning to wrap up this year's Premier's Reading Challenge. The final date for entering books online is 18 September 2026.
The NSW Premier's Reading Challenge aims to encourage a love of reading for leisure and pleasure and to enable students to experience quality literature. It is not a competition, but a personal challenge for each student to read, read more and read more widely. The Premier's Reading Challenge (PRC) is open to all NSW students from Kindergarten to Year 10.
Please continue reading and recording your books online.
To complete the Challenge, students must read a set number of books. Please refer to the Booklist page for further information:

Passwords
If you haven’t received your new password yet, please contact the Resource Centre at library@moamagrammar.nsw.edu.au. We’ll ensure your password is sent to you as soon as possible.
Borrowing and Returns
Students may borrow and return books before school, at recess, lunchtime, and after school. Primary School students also have the opportunity to borrow during their fortnightly Library lessons, with books due back at their next session. Students in Years 7–9 have now begun visiting the Resource Centre regularly. Their books are due two weeks after the date of borrowing.
Borrowing Permissions
If students are requesting to borrow books above their age level, we request parents to write a letter regarding their permission for their child to borrow and read a specific book, which will be reviewed by library staff.
Renewals
Students may renew their books for an additional two weeks by speaking to staff at the Library Circulation Desk. If a further extension is required after this period, students must bring the book with them so staff can sight it before approving the renewal. Students may also renew their books by emailing the Library or by logging on to the school Library website, which is accessible through their SEQTA account.
Requests
If your child would like to borrow a specific book and the title is not included in our current catalogue, we will add this to our purchase wishlist.
Overdue notices
If you receive an overdue notice, there is a chance that the books may have been processed through our system after the email was sent. We encourage all parents to follow up on any issues by emailing the Resource Centre at library@moamagrammar.nsw.edu.au
Reading Permissions
Due to our shared space catering for students from Kindergarten to Year 12, our library collection is organised to help students easily find books with protagonists close to their own age. For example, in the Upper Primary section, most of the characters are between 11 and 13 years old. This approach ensures that themes and content remain age-appropriate, and also supports students in reading independently and with confidence.
When deciding where books are placed within the collection, we are guided by author and publisher recommendations.
