World’s Greatest Shave 2026

Jordan Dalziel, our Community Spirit Captain, is coordinating this exciting event for our Secondary School. Nineteen students and three staff members have nominated themselves to shave, cut or colour their hair for a cure and have begun fundraising. Every dollar raised helps fund life-changing blood cancer research and support.

Our MAG Team fundraising goal is $15,000, and we have collectively raised $7,705. Individuals and businesses are both able to donate to our team or to individual participants via the following link or QR code:

Shave Day will be held on Friday, 31 July at lunchtime here at school and will also be a casual clothes day for K to 12 students, with a gold coin donation. There will be music, food and some interesting before-and-after photos of our registered participants. Thank you for your support.

Year 11 Business Studies Visit Two Lads Brewing

On Wednesday, 15 July, the Year 11 Business Studies class visited Two Lads Brewing for a tour of the brewery and an interview with co-founder and co-owner, Cameron Sutton.

Cameron shared the story of how Two Lads Brewing came to life, explaining how his passion for quality hospitality and building strong community connections has contributed to the business's success. Students were then taken on a guided tour of the brewery, where they learned about the brewing process and the purpose of the various tanks and equipment used in production.

The visit provided students with valuable insights into the realities of establishing and operating a successful small business. The experience will be particularly beneficial as they prepare for their upcoming major assessment, in which they will develop a detailed business plan and present their proposal in a mock investor interview.

We extend our sincere thanks to Cameron for generously sharing his time, knowledge and experiences with our students. The class thoroughly enjoyed the visit and will undoubtedly draw on what they learned as they complete their assessment.

Music Students Attend HSC Study Day

On the last day of Term 2, Year 11 and Year 12 Music students travelled to Wagga Wagga for an enriching day of study at the Riverina Conservatorium of Music. This annual event is designed to support Year 11 and Year 12 students in their preparation for the HSC Music 1 and Music 2 courses. It attracts a strong turnout of music students from independent, Catholic and public schools across the Riverina region.

Throughout the day, students participated in workshops focusing on Aural Skills, Composition and Performance. These sessions provided valuable opportunities to ask questions about course material and review Year 12 composition works in progress and viva voces, gaining insight into the standards required to achieve top marks in these electives. The afternoon featured performances by Year 12 students, showcasing their HSC pieces on instruments including drums, bass, piano, voice, flute and guitar.

Congratulations to our Year 12 students, Neave Dullard and Milla Dennis, who performed on the day and received feedback from experienced HSC markers. Phoebe Cook and Milla Dennis also demonstrated great confidence by participating in viva voce discussions in front of their peers, giving them tangible goals for further developing their research and skills. Riverina Conservatorium teacher Joanne Burrows was also an invaluable resource for our composers, Phoebe Cook and Braith Gow, providing guidance and ideas to support their composition projects.

HSC students now have the opportunity to take on board the wealth of advice offered on the day, helping to make their final term of school both dynamic and productive. Year 11 students have also gained valuable insight to help them plan ahead for the year to come and consider which electives they may choose.

Students Build Confidence and Connection Through LifeChanger Workshops

What makes a hero? Is it strength, wit, strategy or kindness? This term, our Year 8 and Year 9 students had the chance to explore questions just like this as part of programs facilitated by LifeChanger, including the Awaken the Hero Program and the Life Changing Journey Program.

Year 8: The Self Workshop

Building on these foundations, our Year 8 students took part in the 'Self' workshop, a session all about self-discovery. The students were encouraged to look inward and ask not "what makes a hero?" but "what makes me a hero?"

Students were introduced to four distinct hero archetypes, each with their own unique strengths and blind spots:

The Warrior - bold, driven, and ready for action
The Jester - light-hearted, adaptable, and quick to find the joy in things
The Mastermind - strategic, thoughtful, and always thinking three steps ahead
The Guardian - loyal, protective, and steady under pressure

By exploring the characteristics, strengths and limitations of each type, students began to recognise pieces of themselves in every archetype. They explored the reality that being a hero isn't about fitting one mould, t's about knowing which strengths to draw on and when.

Beyond the four hero types, the workshop dug into something a little more personal: the concept of the Hero and the Villain within us all. Students explored how they respond in moments of happiness and moments of challenge, building a clearer picture of what it looks like when their "villain" (those unhelpful thoughts, reactions or habits) takes the wheel.

Rather than treating this as something to fear, students were guided to see it as valuable self-knowledge. Recognising the signs early is the first step toward choosing a better response, and the workshop equipped students with practical strategies to call on their inner hero during tougher moments.

The student left the workshop with genuine tools for life. Greater self-awareness, a stronger understanding of their emotional responses and practical resilience strategies they can lean on both in and out of the classroom.

Year 9: Building Self-Esteem

For our Year 9 students, the focus shifted to Building Self-Esteem, the next step in the Awaken the Hero journey. This workshop encouraged students to think more deeply about self-identity, personal values and beliefs and the role connection plays in how we see ourselves.

A key part of the session tackled something almost every teenager grapples with: comparison. Students examined the barriers that get in the way of their personal growth, and explored why we so often compare ourselves to others, unpacking the underlying causes behind this common habit and learning practical strategies to shift that mindset into something healthier.

The workshop also reinforced the importance of building genuine connections with others and how resilience plays a crucial role in strengthening self-esteem over time. Students left with a clearer sense of their own values and identity, and tools to help quiet the comparison trap when it creeps in.

Each LifeChanger workshop stage builds on the last, helping our students develop the mindfulness, goal-setting, problem-solving gratitude and connection skills they need to thrive.

Strong Results at the Apex Interschool Debating Competition

In the last week of Term 2, our Junior and Senior debating teams competed in the Apex Interschool Debating Competition at the Moama Bowling Club, with both teams coming away with impressive wins.

The Senior team successfully argued the affirmative case that nuclear energy should be part of Australia’s plan for net zero. Jordan Dalziel, Gonzalo Duffey Oporto and Alannah McKee presented strong, well-considered arguments, while researcher Charlie Martin played a vital role behind the scenes.

The Junior team debated the negative side of whether Australian schools should allow students to use Artificial Intelligence (AI) in assignments without restrictions. Georgia McIntosh, Francesca Starritt and Rosie Grant delivered confident and compelling speeches, responding effectively to the opposition and presenting a persuasive case.

The competition showcased a high standard of debating across all participating schools, with students engaging thoughtfully with complex and contemporary issues. Our students approached the day with preparation, teamwork and a willingness to challenge and refine their thinking through respectful debate.

Year 10 Commerce Showcase

Could the next big business idea come from our Year 10 students?

During Term 2, our Year 10 Commerce students showcased innovative business ideas and mock apps designed to address real-world challenges while supporting the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.

Students from Years 7 to 12 were invited to visit the stalls, hear each team's sales pitch and vote across four award categories.

Most Innovative Business Idea - Mobility Safety Australia (William Styles, Tyler Cox and Noah Dunn), an app designed to provide people with mobility disabilities extra time at pedestrian crossings.
Best Presented Stall - Zero (Olivia Frazer and Willow Martin), an interactive app aimed at reducing global hunger and poverty through education.
Idea Most Likely to Succeed - Mood Mates (Jorji Dedini and Eliza Leeds).
Best Sales Pitch and Overall Winner - Her Voice (Jencie Dunn and Molly Webb), an app supporting women through advice, legal resources and a safe platform to share experiences anonymously.

We are incredibly proud of the creativity, innovation and entrepreneurial thinking demonstrated by all students throughout the project.

Year 10 Work Experience Week

This week, our Year 10 students have been out in the community participating in Work Experience placements across a wide range of industries throughout our region. Students have gained valuable firsthand insight into the workplace while exploring potential career pathways and developing important employability skills.

Year 12 – Important Tertiary Admission Dates

As students begin planning for life beyond school, there are a number of important dates approaching for university applications and Open Days.

Victorian Universities (VTAC)

VTAC applications for Year 12 students intending to study at Victorian universities and TAFEs in 2027 open on 3 August. Students are encouraged to begin researching courses and submit their applications early, and should contact Ms Duncan if they require assistance with course preferences, prerequisites or the application process.

NSW Universities (UAC)

UAC undergraduate applications are now open for students intending to study at participating NSW and ACT universities in 2027.
Students are encouraged to submit their applications early and begin researching courses, prerequisites and admission schemes before the HSC examinations commence.

Open Days

Open Days are a fantastic opportunity for students and their families to explore campuses, attend course information sessions, speak with academics and current students, and gain a real feel for university life before making decisions about future study. The dates listed below are not comprehensive, so if you are interested in attending an Open Day at another university or tertiary provider, please look it up online or speak with Ms Duncan, who will be happy to help you find the relevant information.

University Open Days – Transport Expression of Interest

Year 12 students are encouraged to attend Open Days wherever possible to explore campuses, speak with current students and academics, and gain a better understanding of course options and university life. A reminder to Year 12 students and their families that we are hoping to provide transport to a number of Victorian university Open Days this year. If there is sufficient interest, transport will be organised for students and parents/carers to attend together. If you would like to be included, please register your interest with Ms Duncan as soon as possible.

Students seeking assistance with course selection, university applications, early entry schemes or pathway planning are encouraged to make an appointment with Ms Duncan.

Tertiary Information Service (TIS) – Loddon Region

Year 12 students will have the opportunity to attend the Tertiary Information Service (TIS) Loddon event at St Joseph's College, Echuca, on Thursday, 23 July. This valuable event brings together representatives from universities, TAFEs and tertiary providers across Victoria and NSW, giving students the opportunity to ask questions about courses, admissions, accommodation, scholarships and career pathways as they prepare for life beyond school.

Students and their families are also encouraged to attend the Parent and Student Information Evening on Wednesday, 22 July at St Joseph's College. This session provides parents and carers with current information about tertiary study, university applications, apprenticeships, traineeships and post-school pathways, helping families support students as they make important decisions about their future.

Upcoming Opportunities

Australian Defence Force (ADF) Information Session

Representatives from the Australian Defence Force will be visiting Moama Anglican Grammar to speak with students interested in careers within the Navy, Army and Air Force. This opportunity is open to students in Years 10–12. Any student wishing to attend should express their interest to Ms Duncan.
ADF Careers Day – Puckapunyal – 11 September

Students in Years 10–12 are invited to attend the Australian Defence Force Careers Day at Puckapunyal Military Area. The day provides students with the opportunity to explore the wide range of career pathways available within the ADF, meet current Defence personnel and gain an insight into military life. Students interested in attending are asked to register their interest with Ms Duncan by Wednesday, 29 July.

Year 9 Beacon Program – Upcoming Opportunities

There are several exciting career development opportunities coming up for our Year 9 students as part of the Beacon Foundation program. These activities are designed to build employability skills, increase confidence and prepare students for future education, training and employment.

Elevate Education Resume Writing Workshop – 22 July

Year 9 students will participate in an interactive Resume Writing Workshop delivered by Elevate Education. Students will learn how to create a professional resume, identify and communicate their strengths and experiences, and prepare effective job application documents ahead of the Beacon Work Ready program and Real Industry Job Interviews.
Beacon Pathways Pledge – 11 August

Students will participate in the annual Beacon Pathways Pledge, committing to their future education, training and employment goals. This important milestone encourages students to begin thinking about the pathways they wish to pursue beyond school.
Beacon Work Ready Sessions – 25 August

Students will take part in the Beacon Foundation's Work Ready program, focusing on developing essential employability skills including communication, professionalism, teamwork and workplace expectations.
Beacon Real Industry Job Interviews – 8 September

Following the Work Ready sessions, students will participate in formal interviews with local business and industry representatives. This authentic interview experience provides valuable feedback while helping students build confidence and prepare for future employment opportunities.
