From the Principal

Welcome to the Start of Term 3
As we commence Term 3, I am delighted to warmly welcome new students and families who have joined our school community from the start of the term.
I would also like to acknowledge and extend my thanks to those members of our staff team who worked through the school holiday period for all that they contributed to continue school operations over the non-term period.
There has been much happening across the life of our school during the break with HSC students continuing study sessions, students and staff returning from overseas after undertaking a very successful Fiji Service-Learning Trip, and extensive refurbishment of our Secondary Art Rooms led by our property management team.
It has also been great to see the considerable progress that is being made on our Early Learning Centre and Stage 2 Multi-Purpose Stadium developments.
I very much hope that the mid-year school holiday period was safe, relaxing, and enjoyable for our students, families, and staff, however you chose to spend your time.
The highlight of my week this week was the return of students and staff for their first day of Term 3. The buzz around the school was palpable on Tuesday morning and from a personal perspective, I thoroughly enjoyed greeting students, families, and staff throughout the week to hear about their holiday experiences.
As per my message to our School Community on Wednesday 15 July, it was an eventful first week back with the requirement for our school to activate a campus lockdown on Wednesday morning because of an unidentified person being on the school grounds.
This decision was made after proactive contact from the Police who were initially pursuing an individual beyond the Kirchhofer Street campus, then within it.
Our students and staff remained safe during the lockdown period as they followed our emergency lockdown procedure.
On behalf of our school community, I again convey my sincere thanks for the work of the local Police who managed this situation swiftly in consultation with our staff to ensure communal safety and express my thanks to our staff for their support of our students and each other throughout the lockdown.
Best wishes to you all for Term 3.
Kind regards,
Mr Scott Downward
Principal
