Meet the Team Behind the Magic

With just three weeks to go until Opening Night, excitement is building across the entire Mary Poppins Jr. company. We have been overwhelmed by the support from our school and wider community, with both performances now officially sold out.

As rehearsals enter their final stages, new elements of the production are beginning to come together. Our backstage and technical crews have now joined rehearsals, props, sets and production elements are taking shape, and costume fittings will commence next week as students begin their final transformation into the characters of Cherry Tree Lane.

While audiences will see the performers under the stage lights, there is an entire team of students working behind the scenes to make the magic happen. This week, we shine a spotlight on the students whose work off stage is essential to bringing Mary Poppins Jr. to life.

Backstage Crew

The organisers and problem solvers of the production, our backstage crew is responsible for scene changes, props and helping ensure performers and set pieces are exactly where they need to be.

Technical Crew

Our lighting, sound and film students are responsible for creating the atmosphere of the show and capturing the production for future viewing. From operating follow spots to filming and timing audio cues, our crew members are highly skilled and play a vital role in every performance.

Front of House Team

The first faces audiences will see when they arrive at the theatre, our Front of House team will welcome patrons and help ensure everyone enjoys their experience. Students are looking forward to ushering audience members to their seats and selling the official production program.

Hair and Make Up Team

Helping our cast transform into their characters and ensuring performers look stage-ready under the theatre lights, the Hair and Make Up team plays an important role in bringing the story to life.

Creative Student Team

From promotional artwork and program design to props and visual elements, these students help shape the look and feel of Mary Poppins Jr.

Following our previous feature on student poster designer, Georgia Laurie, we would also like to recognise Grace McMaster, who has been working behind the scenes creating props that will help bring the world of Cherry Tree Lane to life.

Prompt

Working side stage during rehearsals and performances, the Prompt follows the script closely to help ensure scenes run smoothly and to support performers if assistance is needed with lines or cues.
