Literacy This week, we have been focusing on ANZAC Day. We read the beautiful book My Grandad Marches on ANZAC Day and explored the meaning of the Ode of Remembrance and the significance of the poppy. To bring our learning to life, students also made delicious ANZAC biscuits while learning about their history.

In writing, we will be focusing on procedural texts—learning how to give clear and precise instructions. Students will explore the importance of structure and specific language to ensure their writing is easy to follow. To support this, we will be reading a range of engaging mentor texts, beginning with How to Babysit a Grandpa.

Mathematics In Mathematics, we have been revising counting and place value. Students are practising counting forwards and backwards to 120 and developing their understanding of tens and ones. These foundational skills are essential for building confidence in number work.

Integrated Studies Our unit this term is My Place. Students will explore the community in which we live—Heathmont. We will investigate its history, how it has changed over time, and why our local area is important. Students will also learn about the features of Heathmont and how we can care for our environment. We look forward to enriching our learning through local walks within the community.

Wellbeing This term, our focus is on respect. Students will explore what respect looks like in action, including valuing each other’s differences, supporting one another, and asking for help when needed.

It is a jam-packed term full of learning and fun! We look forward to growing and learning together.
