Literacy: Mallee Sky

Over the past few weeks, we have continued our work with Mallee Sky by Jodi Toering. The students have been building their vocabulary and looking at how authors use describing words, similes and personification to help create a picture for the reader.

We have also been focusing on what we can see, hear and feel in a setting and using these ideas to create more detailed sentences. This week, the students have brought their learning together by planning and writing their own Mallee setting description.

Numeracy: Directions and Pathways

In Numeracy, we have been learning about directions and pathways. The students have been practising how to give and follow directions using words such as forwards, backwards, left and right.

We have used movement activities, maps and partner work to practise following and describing different pathways. This week, the students have had the opportunity to show what they have learnt throughout the unit.

Integrated Studies: Town Planner Challenge

In Integrated Studies, we have continued our Town Planner Challenge. The students have designed their own buildings and have been thinking about what they would like to include in the area surrounding their building.

They have added things such as roads, paths and other features to their plans and have enjoyed seeing their designs come together.

Celebrating Term 3

It has been a busy Term 3 in 1/2A. We have covered lots of learning across Literacy, Numeracy and Integrated Studies and it has been great to see the students becoming more confident and independent throughout the term.

I hope everyone has a safe and enjoyable holiday break and I look forward to seeing everyone again in Term 4.
