The Melbourne Museum

On the 20th of May the Year 3s went on an excursion to Melbourne Museum. It took thirty minutes to get there on the bus!

First, we went to the Wondrous Planet and I was in a group that went to the Rainforest exhibit. I saw Bong Su. Bong Su is a giant Asian elephant.

Next, we got to go to the different exhibits. My favourite exhibit was the lce exhibit because it had a giant polar bear! Three facts I learnt in the Ice exhibit was that polar bears have fur to keep warm, that snow cats have white fur to hide themselves from predators and seals can hold their breath for 15 minutes under water!

Then we went to the Bugs life exhibit and Mrs Chu took a picture of us under a giant stick bug! got to see how live insects camouflage with nature.

I also got to see how the Earth was like 4.4 billion years ago! It had magma all over the Earth. It looked creepy!

After that we went for a dinosaur walk. I saw a triceratops skull! It was so big! We went up some stairs and saw some birds that made sound and we had to try copy the sound onto a screen. It was fun and challenging!

Finally, we went to see the dynamic earth. It had rocks and minerals. Mrs Chu took a picture of Ishaan inside a giant amethyst. He looked a bit funny!

My favourite exhibit was the wondrous planet because I got to see the penguins in the ice exhibit. Three facts I learnt were: 1. Algae can grow under the ice. 2. The Great Barrier Reef can be seen in space. 3. Kelp forests are threatened by warm oceans.

I enjoyed the excursion because it was nice learning about so many different things I didn't know.
