Year One Fun has Begun

Fun with Capacity 

In Year 1, we have been learning about Capacity. As a class, we brainstormed our understanding of capacity, and the children shared ideas such as “Capacity is about filling things up” and “how much something can hold.” We also explored and used vocabulary including full, empty and half-full.

As a year level, we investigated how many cups of water different containers could hold. Before measuring, the children made predictions and estimations about each container’s capacity. This hands-on activity was highly engaging, and the children participated with great enthusiasm and excitement throughout the lesson.
