Growing Together

Throughout the history of our wonderful school, there have been countless champions who have inspired and shaped the vision and mission of St Peter’s. Rather than despairing over the lack of Catholic education available in the area, the founding families banded together to seek a solution and overcome the challenge. This shared vision and mission set the groundwork for something truly special.

As the years passed, every challenge was met with unwavering dedication to their shared mission. As the community grew and times changed, their resilience and commitment to keep moving forward was evident. Generations before us have approached obstacles with positive intent, choosing to focus not on what stood in the way, but on what could be achieved through hope, collaboration and perseverance.

As we continue to work together to build upon our rich history and the provision of quality Catholic education, I would encourage all members of our community to consider how we can reframe challenges and use these as inspiration to guide us forward to be even better.

"Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go."

Joshua 1:9

In this verse the Israelites were stepping into the unknown. They were scared and uncertain about what lay ahead, but God reminded them that He is always with them. God is also ever present in our lives - leading, guiding and walking along side us. We can move forward boldly, knowing that our God is with us.

Policy Spotlight - Student Code of Conduct

In each newsletter, we will highlight key updates and important aspects of our school policies that are particularly relevant for students and families. We will start our 'Policy Spotlight' series with the Student Code of Conduct. Please note that the information shared in the newsletter provides only selected excerpts. For full details and access to all school policies, please visit St Peter’s Bentleigh East website and navigate to the ‘Child Safety & Policies’ section.

Student Code of Conduct

  • The Student Code of Conduct is based on the following principles that everyone at St Peter’s:
    • Has the right to be safe
    • Has the right to be treated with respect and be valued, even in diversity
    • Has the right to participate within a secure environment without interference, intimidation, harassment, bullying or discrimination
    • Is encouraged to be respectful, polite, courteous and considerate of others
    • Has the right to be supported and challenged as ongoing learners
  • The Student Behaviour Policy is based on a model of positive behaviour support. This model acknowledges the positive behaviour of the majority of students and puts strategies into place to model and specifically teach expected behaviours. It targets focused support, including staged sanctions, for the minority of students that do not embrace positive behaviour.
  • Students who breach this code of conduct may be sanctioned by the class teacher or school principal as deemed appropriate given the nature of breach and the age of the student.
  • In cases of serious and/or persistent breaches of the student code of conduct, the Student Behaviour Policy outlines the consequences for student misbehaviour.

2027 Enrolments (and Beyond)

Last week we conducted two school tours, and it was wonderful to be able to showcase our beautiful facilities, and our incredible students at work. If you have not yet enroled younger siblings who will be starting Prep next year, we encourage you to complete the enrolment application as soon as possible as Prep classes are filling quickly. For families with younger children who will begin school from 2028, enrolments are already open and can be accessed via the link on our website.

If you know of others who are looking to enrol at St Peter's, please share our upcoming School Tour dates with them so that they can be confident in their plans for next year. We have two School Tours remaining for Term 2:

  • Wednesday 10 June at 6:00pm
  • Friday 12 June at 9:30am

Bookings can be made via the St Peter's website.
