Year 6 Leading the Way

Over the past couple of weeks, our Year 6 students have been busy engaging in a variety of exciting learning experiences across the curriculum.

In Reading, students have been exploring the novels Refugee and Snatched by Pirates, developing their comprehension skills while discussing themes, characters and the challenges faced by people in difficult situations. These rich texts have encouraged thoughtful discussions and helped students make connections to real-world events and experiences.

In Writing, students have continued to strengthen their information report writing skills by researching topics and presenting factual information in a clear and organised way.

In Mathematics, students have been investigating decimals, with a strong focus on understanding place value and using efficient strategies to add and subtract decimals accurately.

During Inquiry lessons, students have been learning about landforms and landscapes, exploring how natural features are formed and how they shape our environment. It has been wonderful to see students showing curiosity, creativity and enthusiasm in all areas of their learning.
