Our ensembles continued to shine at last week's Sydney Eisteddfod, with our Jazz Ensembles achieving outstanding results against some very tough competition:

  • Junior Jazz Ensemble – 3rd Place

  • Intermediate Jazz Ensemble – 2nd Place

  • Senior Jazz Ensemble – 2nd Place

A special mention must go to our Intermediate Jazz Ensemble, whose achievement was particularly remarkable. Competing in a division of 10 schools, they performed against ensembles from schools including Meriden, St Augustine’s, Knox, Monte Sant’ Angelo and Cheltenham Girls High School. Eight of the ten ensembles in this division were their school's premier jazz bands, predominantly comprising Year 11 and 12 students. Schools often enter this division to avoid the elite ensembles in the Championship section, making the standard exceptionally high.

In contrast, our Intermediate Jazz Ensemble is made up of students from Years 8–10, making their second-place finish an extraordinary accomplishment and a testament to their dedication, musicianship and hard work.

We congratulate all of our talented students on their performances and thank our outstanding ensemble directors, Ms Laura Power and Mr Geoff Power, whose expertise, passion and commitment over many years have helped nurture and develop these young musicians to such a high level. These results are a wonderful reward for the countless hours of rehearsal and preparation invested by both staff and students.

Rotary Gordon Woodhouse Memorial Scholarship:

Our representative this year is Year 12 HSC Music 2 and Extension singer, Antony Autore. Antony will be performing works by Bach and Brahms. All are encouraging to come and support Antony and also witness other local musical talent from surroundings schools as they compete for the $2,500 prize.
