Gardening Club
Everything is growing green in garden club with all the recent rain. Students are currently in the process of installing a netted tent over our vegetables to stop the possums eating them. The students look forward to sharing a harvested meal at the end of this term.

Debating
Congratulations to the Junior Debating team who performed so well on Friday afternoon. The sheer number of improvements implemented from the first debate was phenomenal to witness. It is clear that the squad is taking full advantage of the adjudication feedback. While we suffered two narrow losses to St Ignatius' College Riverview, the students were commended by the visiting spectators on the rigorous and respectful way they engaged with their opposition.
The topic under discussion was 'Whether it is more important to learn from history than focus on the future'. The adjudicator praised both schools for presenting arguments more typical of students in Year 9 - lots of sophisticated argumentation on display! This round of debating was the first time that the students had the benefit of an online adjudicator.
Our next debate will not take place until Term 3, allowing training sessions in the meantime to be devoted to learning new skills. Thank you to the parents/carers of the debating team for supporting the students as they take on this intellectually challenging cocurricular activity.
Miss Lana Shaba

IPSHA Football Selection
- Jamie Boicheski
- Sam Maclean
- Archy O’Shaughnessy
- Kent Sobey
- Oscar Bevinetto
These students attended the IPSHA Football trials last week. With over 100 students representing IPSHA schools, the standard was extremely high. All students represented SPX with pride and competed strongly throughout the process.
Congratulations to Oscar Bevinetto, who was successful in gaining selection in the team that will compete at the CIS Championships later this year. Oscar attended the trials last year and, after missing selection, used the experience as motivation to further develop his game. His commitment and growth have been rewarded with selection this year, which is a fantastic achievement.
Tudor House Trip
Thank you to all players and families who made the long trip to Tudor House in Moss Vale last weekend. Despite the freezing conditions, the positivity and enthusiasm shown by our students was outstanding and reflected the spirit of our SPX Football program.
The energy on display, along with the smiles shared by both teams, created a fantastic atmosphere throughout the day. Both matches were played in great spirit, with some excellent skill, some great passing, and plenty of sportsmanship on show.
The Tudor House staff were very appreciative and asked that we pass on their thanks for the way our students conducted themselves, a wonderful reflection of SPX.

2026/27 Cricket Season
St Pius X College Cricket is beginning to gather interest for the upcoming 2026/27 season.
Cricket is a fantastic opportunity for students to develop their skills, represent the College, build friendships and enjoy the challenge of team sport. Whether students are experienced players, returning cricketers, or new to the game, we encourage families to start the conversation at home about getting involved.
Further information about MWJCA registrations, training and season details will be shared soon.
