On Sunday this week, we had our 3rd annual Bunnings BBQ, which was the most successful to date. Feedback from Bunnings too also reflects one of the busiest sausage sizzles the company has had at Hoppers Crossing. The day raised just over $3000 and I sincerely thank our Parents and Friends Team for this. I would also like to extend my thanks on all of your behalf to all of the staff who gave of their time to cook or sell some sausages.

All students now need to be wearing a hat while outside. New stocks of school hats have been delivered if you waiting on this delivery. Please ensure that your child / children have their school hat with them each day.
It is disappointing for students to miss a playtime if they do not have a hat!

Term 4 is a very busy one for our Parents and Friends Team. Our school disco is coming up next Friday. Each year, this is a highlight for our students and a great opportunity for our parents to get together. It is expected that a parent remains at school for this event and students can not be dropped off and collected.
The fun is between 5:00 and 8:00 pm and tickets are $15 per family. DJ Julius has been booked again this year.
On Friday, November 7th we have a trivia night happening at OLSC. This was great fun last year. I encourage everyone to come along. This is an adults event and students are not able to attend. The night will be hosted this year by our very own Leeza and Rita. More details regarding this evening can be found in the Parents and Friends section of the newsletter.
This weekend, we have our next Community Mass. Please come and join us for mass at 10:00 on Sunday 19th October. Bring a plate and take part in a social gathering following the mass.

We hit the ground running and started the Term with a Book Fair. It was very successful and some great offers were available. The sales totalled more than $6000 sales which achieves approximately $2000 in scholastic books for the school. Thank you to Kristina and all volunteers for spearheading this event.

The parish prayer for the new church is below. Please feel free to include this in your family prayers as a new church for the Manor Lakes community would be a great feature of our parish.

Today we celebrated Grand Parents day. Our special people were invited to attend our whole school mass and then visit the school and enjoy morning tea. Students were very excited to have the special visitors and share the picture book, 'The Truth About Grandparents.'

We pray this prayer of blessing for all grandparents in our community...
Look with favour on all our grandparents and bless them.
Bless their eyes that look on us with love and affection.
Bless their ears that listen to our questions and our stories.
Bless their knees and laps we sit on.
Bless their arms that hold us and their hands that help us.
Bless their legs that walk beside us.
Bless their hearts that swell with pride for us.
And bless their faces that bring us joy.
Bless them and keep them as they bless and keep us.
We make this prayer through Saint Joachim and Saint Anne,
the grandparents of Jesus.
Amen.

Ben from Year 2 was the recipient of the Vivace Award recently at his annual piano recital. He received the award for the great progress he has made since last year and for attaining excellent (Australian Music Examinations Board) piano exam comments from the examiner.
Ben's family is very proud and we all congratulate you, Ben, on your achievement!
If anyone in your family has an achievement that could be shared in the newsletter and is worthy of celebration and acknowledgement, please email Justin to be included in the next newsletter.
