Trial HSC

I would like to acknowledge Year 12 for the way in which they have approached their Trial HSC Examinations over the past two weeks. Our students have shown commitment and dedication with very few students late or missing examinations. Formal examinations can be stressful and a time of uncertainty for young people. The examination invigilators have reported that our students have demonstrated a great degree of focus and determination.

Students return to classes on Monday 12th August. It is vitally important for students to participate in classes after the Trial HSC Examinations as teachers will be providing valuable feedback, finalising course content and practicing HSC Examination style questions. All these activities will support our students to continue to improve their knowledge, understanding and skills and their ability to communicate this well in the final HSC Examinations.

HSC Practical Examinations

Year 12 students in HSC courses with a practical component are well on their way to completing this part of their HSC Examination. The first course requiring their HSC submission was Society & Culture, with students submitting their Personal Interest Project (PIP) on Monday 5th August. Throughout August and September our Dance, Textiles & Design, Industrial Technology, Drama, English Extension 2, Design & Technology, Language Orals, Visual Arts, Music and Science Extension performances and projects will be performed/submitted. Students need to ensure they are aware of the performance or submission date and time for their HSC examination.

Year 11 End of Course Examinations

Year 11 are fast approaching the end of their Preliminary courses. The final formal assessment task for most courses will be the End of Course Examinations, which are scheduled for Monday 16th to Friday 27th September. Students are reminded of the need to attend their examinations as per the scheduled Year 11 Examination Timetable.

Year 11 will continue for a few weeks into the start of Term 4 to allow all courses time to complete the requirements of Year 11. There will be a formal transition to Year 12 for those students who have successfully completed their Year 11 requirements.

Graduation

Our Year 12 Graduation is fast approaching. The ceremony will be held on Thursday 26th September commencing at 9.30am. We anticipate the ceremony will run until approximately 11.30am. Due to space limitations in the hall, each student will be permitted to bring two guests only.  We are planning to livestream the event as well, as this will allow for additional family and friends to watch the ceremony.

Public Education Week

Wyndham College is proud to be a comprehensive public senior high school serving the needs of our students and community. On the evening of Monday 5th August, we were extremely proud to attend the Public Education Foundation Awards 2024 at Sydney Town Hall. Dallas Richmond, our Head Teacher of TAS, was awarded the Secretary’s Award for Excellent Service for having shown outstanding effort in improving the quality of teaching and learning outcomes in the NSW public education sector.

Since Dallas commenced at Wyndham College, he has worked tirelessly to promote high expectations and high standards, and to ensure students have access to a range of TAS courses. He has supported students to achieve their best, both for their HSC and in setting up post school pathways. His commitment to students and staff are to be commended and this award recognises his exceptional teaching, leadership and commitment to the students of Western Sydney. We are extremely proud of Dallas, as were his beautiful family.

HSC Major Projects

Year 12 students have been working hard on finalising their HSC Major Works with the support and guidance of the Wyndham HSC specialist teachers.  Keep up the hard work, almost there!

Student Spotlight

Congratulations to Year 11 student Emily Greene who won an overall Silver Medal at the Australian Gymnastics Championships for Acrobatics. Emily and her partner were also awarded with Gymnastic Australia's Junior Acrobats of the Year.

Emily's next competition is the World Championships in September and we wish her all the best as she trains for this exciting event.
