Some of next year's prefects attend a Marist Summit

Kaleb Howard, Charlie Lawrence, Kadyn Marino and Finn Slade spent three days in Brisbane attending the annual Marist Summit. It was a gathering of 96 students from 14 Marist schools across Queensland, Northern NSW and the Northern Territory. This is what our prefects had to say:

“The Marist Leadership Summit was an incredible opportunity to advance our abilities in leadership skills and styles. We learnt specifically about the general ways and methods of leadership and the importance of a diverse range of these leadership styles within a team. My biggest takeaway from the experience was the ability to distinguish when to use each of these styles, and at what times for the best outcome for everyone.”

“The summit explored different ways for us to express our ideas to our schools. From giving us pointers on how to improve our speeches to strategies to improve teamwork and make ourselves more approachable to other students.”

“During our time at the Marist Youth Summit, we have become more grateful than ever to be a part of this unique and ever-growing Marist family. We understand the responsibility that has been bestowed upon us, and with the knowledge shared over these three days, we have the tools necessary to make 2025 a great year. We thank the College for sponsoring us and Mrs Cross who accompanied us on the weekend."

“During the summit, we had time for reflection on what we want to improve within the College. This gave us the opportunity to create some great ideas to share with the other prefects and the leadership team, creating confidence that 2025 will be a great year for Saints"

Jubilee of Youth Pilgrimage

A Jubilee of Youth Pilgrimage will be offered next year to all students in Years 9-12 from Catholic schools in the Diocese of Cairns. The pilgrimage will be led by Bishop Joe Caddy and coordinated by me in partnership with school leadership teams who seek to be involved. We hope to bring together a pilgrimage group of 30-35 students, staff and clergy. There will be an information session on Tuesday 5 November for anyone interested. All information is on the flyer below.
