On Wednesday the collective Year 10 Religion classes went to St Monica’s Cathedral for an excursion. The excursion gave us insight into the unseen meaning behind the stained- glass windows in the cathedral. Before I saw the windows as just another piece of the wonderful cathedral, however, I found myself to be sorely mistaken. When the narration played for the windows it opened my eyes to all of these different interpretations that I had not thought of and all these minuscule details that I had simply skimmed over. All and all it was an insightful experience that has opened my eyes to the unseen beauty of the stained-glass windows of the grand cathedral.

Year 10 Business and Year 11 Economics students recently engaged with Matthew Carlsen, Branch Manager of Morgans Stockbroking Firm in Cairns. Matthew shared his insights on economics in the real world, share trading and wealth management.
During the presentation, he explained how economic theories are used to make informed investment decisions and manage financial risks. He pointed out various career paths available to aspiring economists, from financial analysis to policy advisory, and encouraged students to reflect on how the study of economics can lead to meaningful careers and deeper insights into the world economy.
This valuable experience has helped our students link their studies to practical real-world application and potential career pathways. We thank Matthew for his time and look forward to more opportunities that connect classroom learning with industry insights.
