Parents & Teachers working together

Getting to Know You Chats
Next week, we have our Getting to Know you chats between our parents and teachers. Think of our early-year chats as the essential roadmap for your child’s success. These initial touchpoints are more than just a quick check-in; they are the foundation of a powerful partnership between home and the classroom. By sharing what makes your student "tick," including their unique strengths, learning style, and challenges, we can align our expectations and ensure we are all moving in the same direction. These conversations foster a bridge of trust from day one, ensuring your child feels supported both academicall
y and emotionally for a fantastic school year ahead.
Thinking about these areas beforehand helps us make the most of our time together:
- The "Hook": What is the one topic (reading, maths, drawing, sports) that will always get your child excited to learn?
- The "Win": What is a recent achievement—academic or personal—that made your child feel proud?
- The "Hurdle": Is there a specific task (like timed math, reading aloud, or loud hallways) that typically causes your child stress?
- The "Goal": If we could celebrate one big growth area by the end of the year (social or academic), what would you want it to be?
To ensure our 15-minute sessions are as productive as possible, please arrive a few minutes early and wait outside the classroom so we can stay on schedule. These brief chats are designed to align our expectations and build a partnership from day one; however, if you have a PSG meeting already organised, a separate "Getting to Know You" chat is not required as we will cover these insights during that time.
