Around the Secondary Classes

Exciting News: Our Weights Gym Has a New Home!
We’re thrilled to announce that the school’s weights gym has officially moved from SB25 to its new and improved location in XW5!
This exciting relocation brings with it not only a fresh space but also enhanced accessibility and functionality for all students. The new XW5 gym is fully equipped to support a wide range of physical activities and fitness programs, and can be used in conjunction with the adjacent Basketball Court.
The school gymnasium is used as the dedicated classroom for the Year 9/10 Athlete Development class and is also used by various other High School classes throughout the year.
The space can be used for a boot camp, participating in a circuit class, or group fitness session, or a variety of other uses. The space includes:
Spin bikes for cardio and endurance
A brand new cross trainer
The popular ski erg machine
A variety of free weights to suit all strength levels
Rowing machines for full-body workouts
Floor space for stretching, bodyweight training, and functional exercises
Poetry in Action
Last week, our Year 7 students attended a performance by Poetry in Action entitled Muse it or lose it! The characters were facing an existential crisis as AI is threatening to take their place! The performance included poetry, singing and rapping.
They were exposed to many forms of poetry and literary techniques including simile, metaphor and cliche (like Justin Bieber). This performance was engaging and highly entertaining. One poem that was full of cliches was described as being ‘like a hallmark card and a kindergarten crayon had a baby’.
The students were excited to learn more about how the actors got their roles in the company and what life is like as a paid performer.
