A Word from the Principal

Prayer of Saint Ignatius

Take, Lord, and receive all my liberty,

my memory, my understanding,

and my entire will —

all I have and call my own.

You have given all to me.

To you, Lord, I return it.

Everything is yours;

do with it what you will.

Give me only your love and your grace,

that is enough for me.

Saint Ignatius of Loyola, pray for us.

Today we honour Saint Ignatius of Loyola,  a man whose life was completely transformed by grace, and whose legacy continues to shape the way we learn, lead, and live as people of faith.

Born into nobility and initially driven by dreams of glory and honour, Ignatius's life took a dramatic turn after a serious injury in battle. During a long recovery, he encountered the life of Christ and the stories of the saints. What began as boredom led to a deep spiritual awakening. He realised that only one kind of glory truly matters — living a life for God.

Ignatius went on to found the Society of Jesus — the Jesuits — whose motto, Ad Majorem Dei Gloriam (For the Greater Glory of God), continues to inspire people all over the world. His Spiritual Exercises and teachings invite us to be people of deep reflection and action, constantly discerning where God is calling us.

For our Catholic community, Saint Ignatius teaches us that faith and intellect go hand in hand. That reflection is not an escape from the world, but a way to engage with it more deeply and with purpose. He encourages us to “find God in all things” — in our relationships, in creation, in challenge and joy, in study and in service.

As educators, families, and students, we are invited to live with “hearts on fire”, just as Ignatius did — open to transformation, ready to serve, and seeking the greater good in all we do. His life reminds us that holiness is not about perfection, but about ongoing conversion, courage, and surrender to God’s will.

May we walk in the footsteps of Saint Ignatius with courage, curiosity, and a deep desire to bring glory to God in our daily lives.
