Year 5 & 6

Around our level

Our Year 5/6 students have been thoroughly immersed in rehearsals for our whole school production of 'Alice in Wonderland'. As the students have been performing all of the main roles, they have embraced the challenge with enthusiasm, dedication, and a willingness to step outside their comfort zones.

Each day, the B.E.R. has been transformed into a rehearsal space as students work on developing the skills needed to become confident performers. We have been learning strategies for memorising lines, using expression and voice to portray different characters, and thinking carefully about how movement, facial expressions, and body language help bring each scene to life. It has been wonderful to see students becoming more confident in their performances as they continue to practise and refine their roles.

Students have also been busy learning the choreography for the production and understanding how each scene connects with the performances from other classes. As we rehearse, we have been focusing on smooth transitions, stage positioning, and ensuring that our dialogue leads naturally into the songs and dances performed by the wider cast. Seeing all of these elements come together has been an exciting part of the rehearsal process.

With all of the main roles belonging to our Year 5/6 students, there is a great deal to remember. Students have shown impressive commitment by learning their scripts, responding positively to feedback, and supporting one another throughout rehearsals. We have been incredibly proud of the teamwork, resilience, and persistence they have demonstrated as they continue to grow as performers.

While we are looking forward to showcasing the final production, it has been equally rewarding to watch students develop confidence, communication skills, and a sense of responsibility through this experience. Their excitement is certainly building as production night approaches, and we know their hard work will shine on stage. We are looking forward to sharing the magic of 'Alice in Wonderland' with our school community very soon!
