Year 3 & 4

Around our level

On Thursday, 23rd July, the Year 3/4 students travelled by bus to Scienceworks, Spotswood. The day started off with lots of of excitement as we passed through the Burnley Tunnel to over the Westgate Bridge. Some students had never travelled over the bridge before, so there were many ‘oohs’ and ‘aahhs’ as we drove over the bridge. Once we arrived, we had our snacks and headed to our first exhibition. Our highlight here was the couches that played music as we laid on them.

Next stop was the Sportsworks museum, which was so much fun as we raced against Cathy Freeman. We also sat in wheelchairs and raced against each other. Students then moved into the Think Ahead exhibit, which showed us how science has changed the way we live.

After lunch, we headed to our pre-booked Lighting Theatre show. It was a quiz show, where the presenter demonstrated a high voltage performance from a spectacular Tesla Coil. The 4-metre tall Tesla Coil was capable of generating more than two million volts of electricity, producing 3-metre lightning bolts. We covered our ears as the lightning roared around the room.

This was a fantastic excursion, and we are very grateful to our parent helpers who drove and met us at Scienceworks.
