Alumni at Work
Kaleb Kaleb Brogan-Rioli (Year 12 Class of 2023, Brighton Grammar School; Pirlangimpi Community), has been working on the big machinery, at home in Pirlangimpi. Kaleb is a Trades Assistant and currently working on housing with his employer, Andrew Warrior.
Johnny Minjin (Year 12 Class of 2021 St Kevin’s College; Nganmarriyanga Community) –is currently living at Wurrumiyanga, with his partner, and continues his great work as a role model for the fellas there, in his work as a classroom education aide at Xavier College. Here he is in a Smart Skills lesson, teaching the Year 7 fellas how to catch bream, and how to cook it.
Adam Minjin (Year 12 Class of 2024, St Kevin’s College; Nganmarriyanga Community) - is currently working at Florina, a large cattle station in the Northern Territory, 50km West of Katherine. Florina Station has a mixed farming aspect; with Brahman cattle and hay production. They also have access to water, so are looking at other avenues of growing the farming side of the property.
Other Alumni News
It was wonderful to welcome several MITS Alumni to the MITS 10th birthday celebrations in June. Kenita Bush (Year 12 Class of 2022, Huntingtower School; Beswick Community) and Kendyn Brown (Year 12 Class of 2025, St Kevin’s College; Maningrida Community). Kenita is doing terrific work with the Mimal Rangers in the NT and Kendyn has commenced a Science Degree at the University of Melbourne. Both Alumni contributed on the Q&A panel on the night, and their insight and lived-experience wisdom was a significant highlight of the night.

On the same night it was also wonderful to see Sharde Wilson (Year 11 Class of 2021, St Phillips Alice Springs; Borroloola Community). She is living in South Gippsland with her 2 year old son, and partner (below) who is working as a tradie. All pictured here with Sharde’s Uncle Tom Simpson, and MITS Pathways Manager, Annie Carruthers.
Alumni Sporting Glory!
In Pirlangimpi news, Sam Warrior (Year 12 Class of 2024, Parade College), Kaleb Brogan-Rioli (Year 12 Class of 2023, Brighton Grammar), Bruce Wilson (Year 9 Class of 2022, Brighton Grammar, Year 11 Class of 2024 Tiwi College) and their mate Damien, were all proud team mates in the recent TIFL Imalu Tigers Grand Final win. Several proud parents sent me through photos – the fellas dream had been to all win a Grand Final together, and they have now achieved this!
Also part of the success were MITS Alumni Max Puruntatameri (Year 9 Class of 2021, Brighton Grammar, Year 12 Class of 2024) and his older brother Cecil Puruntatameri (Year 11 Class of 2022, Brighton Grammar and Parade College).
