HONOURS AND AWARDS
JOHN ROSENBERG OAM (CLASS OF 1971)
Congratulations to Thistlelonian John Rosenberg (Class of 1971), who was recently awarded an OAM at Government House.
John was joined by family and fellow Thistlelonians for the occasion, including his wife, Bev (Class of 1972), and cousin Peter Lewis (Class of 1971), who received his own OAM last year.
It was wonderful to see John, his family and fellow Thistlelonians come together to celebrate this special occasion and recognise his outstanding contribution.
DISTINGUISHED THISTLELONIANS
It was wonderful to see several distinguished Thistlelonians at our recent Grand Reunion, each recognised with an Australian Honours award.

A remarkable gathering of talent, achievement and service. We are incredibly proud to count them among our Thistlelonian community and to celebrate their outstanding contributions.
RECOGNITION OF SERVICE
On Tuesday, 14 July, Mr David Nutting, Ms Carole Hooper and I attended a special event, hosted by the Department of Education, where we received a certificate in recognition of our 35 years of service to the Department.
It was an honour to receive this recognition, and we reflected on our very rewarding careers.
I was very proud that McKinnon's Senior Clarinet Quintet provided the music at this special Presentation Ceremony. Thank you and well done to Chloe Jiang (Year 10), Ruma Lee (Year 10), Xavier Lynch (Year 12), Sacha Rose (Year 10), and Spencer Wu (Year 12).
Special thanks to their teacher, Ms Laura Main, who also accompanied them.
MARLY ERDENEBILGUUN (YEAR 8 STUDENT)
In 2025, Marly Erdenebilguun participated in the first stage of the Science and English Olympiad. She was awarded gold and silver medals, which qualified her to attend the international finals held in Sydney, Australia, in April 2026.
Now in Year 8, Marly has just competed at the international stage, in Science, English, and Public Speaking, with a focus on the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The NextGen Olympiad was organised by NextEd Australia and involved students from twelve countries. The event was conducted in alignment with the UN Sustainable Development Goals and was supported by the United Nations Association of Australia.
Participating students are encouraged to engage with global issues through the framework of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The competition is not only about academic excellence but also about developing awareness of important global challenges such as climate action, equality, and sustainability.
At the event, Marly was awarded the following medals:
A gold medal for Science
A silver medal for Public Speaking
A bronze medal for English
Marly has participated in several national and international academic competitions and has received numerous medals and awards for her achievements. She has a strong interest in science, mathematics, and public speaking.
