Performing Arts

Over the last couple of weeks in Performing Arts, students across the school have been developing their confidence as performers through a range of drama and music activities. Through games, role plays and short performance tasks, students have been exploring how performers communicate ideas, stories and emotions using their voice, body and stage presence.
A strong focus has been on developing conversational and expressive speaking skills. Students have been practising how to speak clearly, vary their tone and expression, and listen and respond to others when performing in role. These activities help students understand how characters, situations and emotions can be communicated effectively to an audience.
Across all year levels, students have also been building their understanding of stagecraft. This includes learning how to enter and exit the stage, where to position themselves so they can be seen by the audience, and how performers present themselves confidently when sharing their work.
Students have also begun incorporating rhythm, percussion and singing into their performances, using these elements to support storytelling and enhance their stage presence. It has been wonderful to see students growing in confidence as they rehearse and perform for their peers.
Choir Update
We are also excited to announce that our whole school choir now has an official name - The Echidna Ensemble! Students have been working hard in rehearsals, developing their singing voices and learning how to perform together as a group. The choir is sounding fantastic, and we look forward to sharing their progress and performances with the school community throughout the year.
