Visual Arts

From the Visual Arts room.
Foundation
In the artroom, students enjoyed the text 'Elmer the Elephant'.
Students discussed the patchwork pattern and the different colours found on Elmer. Using colourde paint sticks, students made their own patchwork pattern. Using squares of coloured paper, a patchwork edge was created around the border of the paper.
The students are currently working on a 3D Elmer using a cylinder which will be completed in the coming week.
Grades 1 and 2
Students have been discussing primary and secondary colours. Each student used food dye to apply onto paper and used a straw to blow the food dye into different shapes. This technique also allowed the colours to mix. Once dry, students used fine line black markers to add details.
Grades 3 and 4
Students completed their artwork to depict the celebration of Chinese New Year - The Year of the Horse. Students used coloured textas and gold markers to colour the horse.
Students learnt different sewing and knotting techniques. Students used a ruler to measure the wool and ribbon to make sure the length was correct. Students created a celebration by considering colour combinations, adding ribbon and wool into the holes.

Just take a moment to ....
grab a piece of string or wool.
Try tying knots, fraying and looping the materials to see what you can create.
