Head of Students News

Mr Gareth Kolkenbeck-Ruh - Head of Students (Acting)

As we approach the busy academic period of the term, I would like to take this opportunity to thank parents and families for the ongoing support you provide to the College and to our young men. This time of term often brings increased academic demands, assessments and co-curricular commitments, and the partnership between school and home is particularly important in ensuring that students are able to manage these responsibilities effectively.

A key way families can assist the College during this time is by supporting our established processes and procedures. These systems are in place to ensure the safety, organisation and wellbeing of all students.

We ask parents to please ensure that all absences, late arrivals and early departures are logged through the Parent Orbit app. Using the app allows our staff to maintain accurate attendance records and ensures that communication is consistent and efficient.

If a student needs to leave the College during the day due to illness, they must report to the Health Centre and be signed out through that process before being collected. Students should not simply email parents requesting to go home. This procedure is important so that the Health Centre staff can assess students, provide care where needed, and ensure appropriate supervision until they are collected.

We also ask families to continue supporting the College’s pastoral and disciplinary structures. Our systems are designed to guide and support students as they grow into responsible young men. When challenges arise, our goal is always to work collaboratively with families in the best interests of the student. The relationship between home and school is most effective when it is grounded in partnership, trust and a shared commitment to helping our boys flourish. We are all on the same team, working toward the same goal.

Finally, a reminder for those students who drive to the College. Student drivers are not permitted to park in staff car parks and should instead utilise street parking around the College. This helps ensure that staff parking areas remain available for College personnel and visitors.

Thank you for your continued support of the College and the many processes that allow our community to function smoothly. By working together and maintaining clear communication, we can ensure that the remainder of the term is productive, organised and positive for all students.
