RACV Royal Pines Hospitality Excursion a Resounding Success

Grade 12 Students undertaking the SIT20322 Certificate II in Hospitality recently had the opportunity to step inside the world of five‑star service during the Live‑In‑Vocational‑Education‑Training (LIVET) excursion to RACV Royal Pines Resort. The two-day experience was an invaluable extension of their assessment program, offering real‑world insight into the fast-paced, high‑standard expectations of the hospitality industry.

Throughout the excursion, students rotated through key departments across the prestigious resort, gaining firsthand understanding of how each area contributes to seamless guest experiences. Their immersion included:

  • Service Desk & Concierge – observing guest relations, reservations, and the essential art of professional communication
  • Kitchen Operations – exploring behind-the-scenes workflow, food preparation, and the coordination required in commercial kitchens
  • Logistics & Operations – discovering what it takes to keep a major resort functioning efficiently every day
  • Front of House (including Tee’s Bar and Panorama Café) – learning about food and beverage service, customer interaction, and the expectations of premium hospitality environments

Students engaged enthusiastically with staff, asked thoughtful questions, and demonstrated a high level of professionalism throughout both excursions.

After a full day of industry learning, students enjoyed some well-deserved downtime in the evening, taking advantage of the resort’s facilities. Many relaxed with a friendly game of tennis or spent time in the gym, making the most of the opportunity to unwind together.

A huge thank you goes to Mrs Going for her planning and organisation of this valuable learning experience. We also extend our appreciation to Paris and Denise from RACV Royal Pines, who deliver the LIVET Program across a wide range of schools. Their expertise, hospitality, and commitment to student learning ensured the excursion was both engaging and authentic.

We are proud to share that Royal Pines staff offered glowing feedback, commending our students on their respectful conduct, positive attitude, and outstanding engagement across both visits. Their professionalism reflects the strength of our hospitality program and the high standards our students continue to uphold.

This excursion not only contributes directly to assessment requirements—it inspires future pathways, fuels industry passion, and strengthens students’ confidence as emerging hospitality professionals.
