GAT (General Achievement Test)

Students who are enrolled in one or more VCE or VCE VET Unit 3-4 sequence and VCE VM are required to complete the GAT (General Achievement Test) on Tuesday 17th June 2025. The GAT will be separated into two sections

Section A – 9:00am until 11:15am (all VCE and VCE VM) - Section A will assess skills in literacy (reading and writing) and numeracy.

Section B – 1:15pm until 3:00pm (VCE and VET scored students only) - Section B will assess general knowledge and skills in the areas of mathematics, science, technology, humanities, the arts and social sciences.

Students will undertake a GAT information session during Weeks 6 and 7 of Term 2. During this information session students will be provided with tips on completing the GAT, a review of how the GAT is structured and a reminder that they are not required to study for the GAT.  Results from the GAT will be released in December.

VCE Unit 1 and Unit 3 Mid-Term Exams

Senior School VCE mid-term exams will be occurring from Tuesday 10th June until Monday 16th June. A timetable has been communicated to all parents and students. Whilst completing these exams students are expected to be in full school uniform. Students will only attend school for their scheduled exams during exam week.

Attendance

Our goal this year is to reduce the number of unapproved student absences. Unapproved absences are for days when absence is avoidable, including taking days off for birthdays, long weekends or to visit friends or relatives. We also do not recommend taking long holidays throughout the term, especially in your son or daughter’s final year of schooling. If you do have a planned holiday, please contact the relevant Year Level Leaders as soon as possible so arrangements can be made.

When calling the absence line to advise the school of student absences, please stipulate a reason for your child’s absence.

Year 12 VCE Careers Expo

The VCE careers expo took place on Friday the 2nd of May. Students met in the city at the Melbourne Exhibition and Convention Centre for the day. The expo provided them with an opportunity to explore some of the offerings available to them. From the ADF, Police, to Australian Catholic University, Deakin University, Monash University, Melbourne Cricket Academy (RMIT University), as well as attend seminars to assist in their preparation for the end of year exams. The students came away with lots of informative brochures, and goodies from the stalls. A great day was had by all.

🎉 Congratulations to Urooj in Year 11 for her outstanding performance in the CLTAV & Tasmania 2025 Chinese Bridge – Chinese Proficiency Competition! 🎉

The competition involved a written test, a Mandarin speech, and a Chinese cultural performance. Urooj showcased her talents by performing on the Guzheng—a traditional Chinese instrument she began learning just last year—along with a graceful fan dance. After weeks of dedicated preparation, her hard work truly paid off! 🏅 She earned 4th place, marking her second medal in Chinese competitions.

Her remarkable achievement is a proud moment for our school. Well done, Urooj! We’re all incredibly proud of you! 🌟👏#ProudMoment #ChineseBridgeCompetition #StudentSuccess #HardWorkPaysOff

Year 12 VCE VM Literacy – “How To” Teaching Presentations

Our Year 12 Literacy students have been stepping into the role of teacher, sharing their talents and passions with the class in a creative "How To" presentation series. From learning how to give a manicure, kick a footy, make a ninja star, curl, plait and cut hair, to designing henna designs – students have been busy teaching their peers a wide range of fun and practical skills. Through this engaging project, students have been developing key literacy skills – refining their verbal, visual, and written communication, while building confidence and oracy skills. A wonderful celebration of learning, leadership, and creativity!

Well done year 12s!
