We are thrilled to celebrate the achievements of our talented students at the 2025 CLTAV Chinese Reading Competition!
On Thursday, 24th April, Aliza (8G), Christina (8D), and Deeksha (9L) proudly represented Cranbourne East Secondary College in the statewide competition held at Camberwell Grammar School. Competing against approximately 100 students from 20 schools across Victoria, they delivered outstanding performances, showcasing their dedication, perseverance, and passion for Chinese language learning.
In addition to the competition, our students also participated in the International Chinese Language Day celebrations, a UNESCO-recognised event highlighting the richness of Chinese language and culture. Their enthusiasm and commitment to embracing challenges are truly commendable!
All participants received certificates from the CLTAV in recognition of their efforts and achievements—a testament to their hard work and the support of our school community. Congratulations to Aliza, Christina, Deeksha, and their peer supporters on this wonderful accomplishment
As we reach the halfway point of the year and wrap up Semester 1, it’s a great time to reflect on all the achievements and exciting experiences so far.
Progress reports for Term 2 have now been released. This is a valuable opportunity for students and families to sit down together and discuss the progress made from Term 1 to Term 2. These conversations can help set goals and celebrate growth as we move forward.
Attendance Matters!:The Year 9 Team would like to remind everyone about the importance of regular attendance. Our goal is a 90% attendance rate for the year, helping students build strong habits that will set them up for success in Senior School and beyond. Remember: every day counts towards your learning outcomes.
Outdoor Education Adventures:Our Outdoor Education elective students have been busy exploring Phillip Island! They had the chance to see the famous penguins and even hit the waves at Smith Beach for some surfing action. These camps are always a highlight and a great way to build teamwork and resilience.
Special Guest: Andrew Fisher:We were thrilled to welcome racing car driver Andrew Fisher as a guest speaker. Andrew shared his inspiring journey, focusing on perseverance, making positive choices, and chasing your dreams. His talk left a lasting impact on our students, reminding them that with determination, anything is possible.
Looking Ahead to Semester 2:The team is excited for what’s to come! Semester 2 will bring new electives for Year 9s, and students interested in changing their electives should keep an eye out for upcoming information on how to do so.
Wellbeing Day:To finish off Term 2, Year 9s will enjoy a Wellbeing Day on the second last day of term. It’s a chance to relax, recharge, and take part in activities focused on health and happiness—an important part of our school community.
Let’s keep up the great work, Year 9s! We’re proud of your achievements so far and can’t wait to see what you accomplish next.
Kevin McCall, Year 9 Year Level Leader
Term 2 is always a busy term; we are in the process of making sure that each Year 10 student has a Careers meeting in preparation for Course Counselling where students will choose their pathway into Senior school at the start of Term 3. It is pleasing to see that our students understand the importance of Year 10 and doing their best so they have as many options as possible when choosing their future pathway.
This term all Year 10 students have participated in the Careers Spotlight sessions where they heard from people working in different careers. The guest speakers spoke about what they did in their job day to day and what the requirements for their career were. The students listened attentively and told us afterwards that they found these sessions interesting and valuable.
Next up there are the mid-year exams. We know the students will approach these exams seriously and do their best.
