Aussie of the month is an Australian Government whole-school recognition program that celebrates students who consistently demonstrate positive character traits and contribute to a supportive, inclusive school community.  Each month, staff at St Helena's are asked to nominate a student who they believe show Australian and school values. These values include:

  • Respect – for themselves, others and the environment

  • Responsibility – taking ownership of their actions and learning

  • Fairness and inclusion – showing kindness and valuing others

  • Community spirit – contributing positively to school life

  • Personal best – striving for effort and improvement

Here is why staff nominated Sargun as our initial Aussie of the Month.

Sargun is a very dedicated and hard worker. She shows enthusiasm and is an active participant in class discussions. She is very respectful of staff and peers. She likes to help the teacher and friends who may need some help too. She is a role model in the classroom. Sargun supports her peers, encourages others to participate, and helps create a classroom environment where everyone feels capable and valued.

Sargun has a warm, gentle nature which makes her a steady source of kindness and encouragement. She always shows compassion for others, offer help without being asked, and contribute positively to the wellbeing of those around her. Sargun demonstrates respect in all her interactions, towards herself, her classmates, her teachers, and the learning environment. Sargun celebrates differences and make others feel welcome. She strives for excellence in our learning environment at every opportunity.

Well done Sargun! We are all so proud of you!
