Term 4, 2026

Roxburgh Park Primary School
Year 5/6 Report
Term 4, 2026
This term, students will be developing their skills with regards to informative writing. We will begin by unpacking the structure and features of information reports, exploring elements such as technical terms, fact boxes, captions, subheadings, contents pages, glossaries and indexes. Students will then put their learning into practice by researching and writing an information report on a topic of their own choice. We will also focus on speech making, viewing and discussing famous speeches to identify the features and techniques that make them effective. Students will then have the opportunity to write and present a speech of their own.
In Maths, students will be exploring fractions and their use at their own level. Learning will include identifying and representing fractions, comparing their similarities and differences, ordering fractions by size, and exploring the different ways fractions can be represented, including mixed numbers, improper fractions and decimals. Students will also develop their understanding of where fractions belong on a number line and use this knowledge to strengthen their overall understanding of number.
There are plenty of exciting events to look forward to this term! Our students will have the opportunity to head to Phillip Island for camp, with surfing being one of the highlights of the experience. Our Year 6 students will also enjoy an excursion to Funfields as they celebrate the end of their primary school journey. We will finish the term with the very special Year 6 Graduation, providing a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the achievements, growth and memories of our graduating students.
