Year 3/4 Report
Term 4, 2026
Welcome to Term 4! We are excited to begin our final term together in Grade 3/4 and have plenty to look forward to. This term will be filled with new learning, hands-on activities, special events and lots of opportunities for students to challenge themselves and celebrate their progress. We are looking forward to making the most of our final weeks together and finishing the year on a positive and memorable note.
This term Grade 3/4s will practice their skills in research, note taking, drafting, editing/revising and publishing biography pieces about a variety of different influential people. Students will be given the opportunity to select an influential person in the world around them, research important key facts about their lives and write a detailed biography about their chosen person.
In Maths, students will be exploring fractions through a range of practical, hands-on activities. They will use materials such as fraction strips, counters, shapes and number lines to make, compare and represent fractions, including finding fractions of collections and recognising equivalent fractions. Students will take part in games and real-life problem-solving tasks to help make their learning meaningful. As their understanding develops, they will be challenged to explain their thinking, make connections between different fractions and solve more complex fraction problems.
Students will continue to investigate how Indigenous Australians lived prior to European colonisation, and the consequent changes to the lives of all those involved as a result of the event. After building their knowledge on this students will complete a project to share their understanding with the wider community.
Students will continue to build their understanding that everyone is different and that these differences can affect how we get along with others. They are also learning how to make positive choices, show respect and adjust their behaviour when working and playing with others.
