Prep

Around Our Level

Our students have settled back and are ready to complete their final term of Prep. They are looking forward to participating in our whole-school Swimming Program, Prep Alphabet Concert and Stepping Up Program for 2027 (meeting their new teacher and class).

We would like to warmly welcome Miss Woodmason, who has been in Prep B. She is completing her teaching placement and is studying at Deakin University. She is very excited to gain valuable teaching experience and has been enjoying working with our students and supporting them in the classroom. We wish her all the best with her future teaching career.

This week in Literacy, our focus has been on the short vowel sounds 'a', 'e', 'i', 'o' and 'u'. Students have undertaken recounts and enjoyed writing about their holidays. We are very fortunate to have some brand-new decodable readers, which have been sent home with the children’s weekly homework. A huge thank you to Sarah S for covering these books.

In Maths, we are learning about sharing equally (groups of). Students have undertaken tasks requiring sharing unifix, modelling equal shares with playdough, sharing using paper plates and undertaking individual and partner sharing activities and games to further consolidate and embed these important concepts.

In Integrated Studies, we are learning about special places to us. These can include special places like your backyard, the park, the library, Grandparents' house or even a favourite holiday place, like the beach or the snow. We also learned about special Indigenous places, like Pound Bend in Warrandyte, National Parks and Uluru.

We would like to send out a big thank you to all our volunteer helpers who have assisted with PMP this year. We have 4 more sessions remaining for the year.
