A Symphony of Stories: Book Week 2026

Get ready to celebrate the joy of reading during CBCA Book Week 2026 (22-28th August) as our libraries come alive with this year's inspiring theme, Symphony of Stories.
Book Week at Yirramboi Campus
In the lead-up to Book Week, we'll be building excitement with vibrant library displays and writing competitions across both Senior and Middle School. The Senior School Library will host a weekly micro-writing challenge, with prizes awarded each week, while the Middle School Library will run a short story writing competition, with the winning entry announced during Book Week.
During Book Week itself, students in both the Senior and Middle School Libraries can enjoy a variety of creative activities, competitions and challenges that celebrate the many ways stories connect, inspire and entertain us.
This year also marks an exciting new tradition at the Yirramboi campus. While many students have fond memories of our Book Week dress-up day, we're introducing a new way for everyone to join the fun - a Book Week Photobooth! Instead of needing to organise a costume at home, students can choose from a collection of dress-ups and props before posing in front of a vibrant, music-inspired backdrop with friends. The photobooth will be available all week in the Middle School Library and on Thursday in the Senior School Library, making it easy for everyone to capture a memorable Book Week moment.
Students can also enjoy daily lunchtime craft activities, along with whole-week competitions such as adding favourite song lyrics or book reviews to our interactive displays, matching teachers to their favourite books, and discovering exciting new reads. Each day will feature different activities, with the full program to be revealed closer to Book Week.
Book Week at Canowindra Campus
The Junior School will celebrate Book Week with a book character street parade on Friday 21st August, followed by a special Book Week Assembly that afternoon.
During Book Week, various guest speakers will be visiting the Junior School. We are thrilled to have Anna McGregor, Emma Bowd, Dub Leffler and Robert Favretto share their writing and illustrating expertise with the Junior School students.
Various competitions will be held in the lead up to Book Week for Year 9 and Junior school students to participate in. Special reading and craft sessions will be facilitated by the Year 9 students during lunchtimes throughout Book Week. These are always enjoyed immensely by the younger students.
Whether you're an avid reader or simply looking to try something new, there's something for everyone during Book Week. We can't wait to see our libraries filled with creativity, curiosity and conversation as we celebrate the stories that bring our community together.
