On Friday the 24th of April we conducted a whole school assembly to commemorate ANZAC Day. We paid our respect with a one minute silence and students had the opportunity to lay flowers underneath the flag poles. We listened to the school captains, Emily and Jye, reading the ode and Mrs Cooper presenting a book to our school. In class, we read the story ‘Anzac Biscuits’ and “When Grandpa Marches’, and discussed what ANZAC Day represents.

In Literacy, we have been learning about the sounds that 'o', 'd', 'c', and 'k' make. Students have been working hard to learn their heart words and are now taking home personalised lists and homework.

In Maths, we have been learning about patterns including AB, ABC, and AABB patterns. We have been learning about repeating patterns and working with our shoulder partner to create patterns using counters and unifix blocks. This week in Maths, we are learning to recognise, make, and write our numbers to 10.

In Wellbeing, we have been learning to ask new people to play with at recess and lunch times. We went outside into our fabulous ‘outdoor learning space’ and had the opportunity to explore and practise these skills as we enjoyed the sunshine and beautiful weather last week.

In Integrated Studies, our focus was on ANZAC Day as we coloured in our wreaths and poppies for our memory books.

We look forward to commencing our PMP (Perceptual Motor Program) this coming Friday. Thank you to all our amazing parent volunteers who have offered their time to support this valuable program, which builds confidence, develops gross motor skills and hand eye coordination, and teaches concepts such as left, right, under, over, beside, next to, and in front. It also involves activities such as balance, catching, throwing, accuracy, climbing, hopping, skipping, jumping, and more.
