Year 11 Katoomba Camp

Term 1 Week 11

The first destination of the Year 11 Camp to Katoomba was Govetts Leap, where we walked to Evan's Lookout. Everyone enjoyed the beautiful scenery while stretching their legs after a few hours on the bus. Az Hamilton joined us at our accommodation for his first of three sessions with the students. His insight and ministry was inspiring and invaluable. We all had a chance to get to know him better during his time at the insightful camp.

Day 2 started with an early morning walk to Katoomba Falls and Cascades, followed by another great session with Az. After lunch, we headed off for a walk to Gordon Falls and the Pool of Siloam, which had more stunning views along the way.

The 3rd day started off with a visit to Scenic World to travel on the steepest railway in the world. We had a great walk seeing the coal mining history along the boardwalks beneath the canopy of the forest. More breathtaking views and discovering that the Blue Mountains National Park is more than twice the size of the Grand Canyon! After a very entertaining scavenger hunt around Katoomba, we all enjoyed a semi-formal dinner offering everyone the opportunity to dress up a little.

After farewelling Katoomba, the bus did a victory lap of Mount Panorama (Bathurst) before stopping at the Japanese Gardens at Cowra for lunch. Each day was very full but a wonderful opportunity for the students to get to know one another better for their last few terms of school.
