Principal's Press

Dear Parents/Carers
I hope you have enjoyed a restful break over the Easter period and a chance to reflect on the confidence we have in God’s love, seen in the death and resurrection of Jesus.
It was lovely to start the term with a full day of parent-teacher interviews – over 850 parent-teacher interviews occurred that day! I was able to visit with many parents and hear how their families are enjoying the College. Parent partnership focusing on student learning is critical for supporting our students, and we’re keen to connect with parents well. If you have any feedback about the changed format of parent-teacher interviews, can I please encourage you to let me know via email at principal@wwcc.nsw.edu.au.
This term is a busy time with many events coming up. Please review the College Calendar for key event dates (maybe print a copy for the fridge!).

As part of our legal requirements, general background information about students is being shared in a de-identified manner with the Australian Curriculum, Assessment and Reporting Authority (ACARA). Last call for parent survey!
If you haven’t yet responded to our parent feedback survey, can I please encourage you to do so by Friday afternoon? The College is keen to hear what parents' experience of us is like and what areas you’d like us to prioritise working on next, both in terms of buildings and facilities, and also strategic plans for activities and programs that we offer.
The survey will close this Friday 9 May and can be completed here: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/WWCCParents2025
College Photo Days – Thursday 8 and Friday 9 May
A reminder that students are expected to be in full formal winter uniform for College photos this week.
Mother’s Day
As Mother's Day approaches, we are reminded of the profound love and importance of our mothers. This special day is an opportunity to honour and appreciate the incredible women who have shaped our lives with their unwavering faith, guidance, and compassion. It is our joy to encourage students to express their love and gratitude of their mothers and fulfil Proverbs 31:28 “Her children rise up and call her blessed”. We hope your family is able to enjoy

This term, we have celebrated the appointment of:

I am also very sad to be announcing the following staff who are leaving the College:
- Mr Luke Alcorn - Maintenance Officer
- Miss Olivia Weeks - Community Relations Assistant

Winter Uniform
As the cooler weather has started to return, it is a reminder that winter uniform is about to kick off for Term 2. The first two weeks of Term 2 are a transition time, where students may wear either the winter or the summer uniform, but they may not mix and match.
Details of our winter uniform rules are on our website here. With the introduction of the College fleece jumper last year, there is a range of warm options available to students. Students may not wear non-uniform jumpers, hoodies, or jackets. To increase warmth on very cold days, students are encouraged to wear appropriate layers under their uniform, e.g., singlets or thermal underwear. Under layers should be plain coloured white or flesh-toned with no slogans or images. Students may not wear jumpers as an underlayer.
Students may wear College coloured beanies, scarves or gloves (navy blue or maroon) when outside on especially cold days.
An Evening with Dr Marshall Ballantine-Jones & Dr Rachel Hogg
Thursday 8 May 7:30 pm at the CSU Riverina Playhouse
Parents, educators and community members are invited to a thought-provoking evening exploring the challenges and opportunities around adolescence and the digital world. Featuring leading experts Dr Marshall Ballantine-Jones and Dr Rachel Hogg, this event will provide valuable insights into the effects of online behaviour on young people’s relationships, mental health, and overall wellbeing.
Dr Ballantine-Jones, CEO of DigiHelp Publishing, completed his PhD at Sydney University’s Faculty of Medicine, researching ways to mitigate the negative impact of pornography and sexualised social media behaviours on adolescents. Through his work with DigiHelp and Resist Ministries, he equips schools and faith communities with practical strategies to support youth in navigating the online space safely and healthily.
Joining him is Dr Rachel Hogg, Senior Lecturer in Psychology at Charles Sturt University, whose research focuses on stress and trauma, gendered experiences in clinical psychology, and youth intimate partner violence. She brings a regional perspective to discussions on consent, coercive control, and the impact of social media on identity and relationships.
By joining us, you will gain valuable knowledge on how to support children and teens in developing healthy digital habits, recognising risks, and fostering meaningful, offline connections. Don’t miss this chance to be part of an essential community conversation about raising resilient and well-balanced young people in the digital age.
