Alumni Sessions over the last few weeks:
We had the pleasure of welcoming back Matt Greenwood, Class of 2010, to speak to students about his job as a Lead Software Engineer at Zero. Matthew shared with the VET Cert III ICT and Applied Computing students, about his pathway after high school and the work he does at Xero. It was a great experience for students to meet Matt and see where their own studies could lead.
Owen Bowell, Class of 1985, came to speak to the Year 11 Business Management class. Owen is an E-Commerce Executive for a global beauty brand and has significant experience in marketing and business development. Students heard about real-life examples of what they are learning, such as writing marketing plans, understanding target markets, and developing ideas into businesses.
We thank Matt and Owen for giving up their time and coming to support and inspire our students!
Girls in STEAM Jobs: This week we welcomed representatives from engineering firm AECOM, who delivered a GIRLS IN STEAM jobs workshop, to a class of Year 8 female students. This opportunity was brought to us via Anjali Thirumalavan, Senior Sustainability Consultant at AECOM and an alum of Cranbourne Secondary College from the Class of 2012. Students learnt about the work that AECOM does, gained insight into the disparity of males versus females in STEAM jobs and participated in activities involving bridge building and reducing their carbon footprint. AECOM have been a wonderful support of our students and we are very thankful for their time and support.
