Year 9

Ms Dickson - Year 9 Year Level Leader

Year 9

The Year 9 cohort has some very exciting opportunities coming up this term. As part of their Connect classes, they have participated in a staff vs. student volleyball competition and are attending Victoria’s Biggest Careers Event. The students will be taking part in immersive electives which will see them engaging in activities out in the community. Students will be able to interact with members of the community in a respectful and responsible manner to further our learning community.

SMASHED Incursion

The students in Year 9 attended an incursion called Smashed Live, an empowering and relatable theatre in education program developed to meet the need for effective alcohol education in schools. It spoke about the peer pressure that students may feel when exposed to drugs and alcohol and is part of Australia’s commitment to reduce alcohol misuse, which includes underage drinking. The students said it was very informative and they really enjoyed the show.

Staff vs. Student Volleyball

Our Year 9 Connect students took part in a round-robin tournament with the winner to play off against the Year 9 teachers. It was a lot of fun and some of the teachers surprised the students with their volleyball prowess.

Unfortunately, the teachers were not successful with 9C taking home the Volleyball champions title.
