Humanities

Year 9 Geography students at the Royal Botanic Gardens Cranbourne. Students looked at Australian landscapes, learnt about some edible plants, then looked at skulls of native animals and did a little yabbying in the lake.

Year 10 Australian Society students explored Australia’s migration history through objects, documents and roleplays at the Immigration Museum.

Year 9 Australian History students participated in a First Nations walking tour of Naarm (Melbourne) with the Koorie Heritage Trust and explored Bunjilaka at Melbourne Museum to expand their understanding of First Nations history.

Visual Arts

Year 11 and 12 students currently studying Art Creative Practice, Art Making and Exhibiting and Visual Communication Design visited the NGV. The purpose of this excursion was to visit the free exhibitions by internationally renowned artists and examine how each artwork is exhibited in its respective rooms.

We were all excited then to have our chance to view the exhibition and the many pieces that the gallery offers within the free exhibitions that are on display. Our students also got to do some live sketching with Mr MacLennan before returning home with fresh ideas and inspiration for their future artistic endeavours.

Overall, this was a valuable experience for our senior students.

BioEyes

Year 7 and 8 VHAP students had the wonderful opportunity to participate in a VHAP Masterclass BioEYES+ Workshop.

A visiting teacher from Monash University took our VHAP students on a fascinating journey into the scientific study of zebrafish and how their genetic traits are inherited over generations.
