Cross Country Report: Success at Apex Park

Our school community gathered Friday, April 24, for an energetic and sun-drenched Cross Country event. The weather was perfectly warm and dry, providing ideal conditions for our 95 athletes to hit the river trail at Apex Park.

The Course and Race Highlights

The challenge for the day was an "out and back" course, with students starting at Apex Park and running back towards the homestead before making the return trip. The competition was fierce across all distances, with some impressive times recorded on the leaderboard.

1km Highlights: Santino Pipicella led the boys with a fast time of 4:46.0, while Violet Milne took the top spot for the girls in 6:03.9.
2km Highlights: Daulton Janetzki (10:31.3) and Claire Arnol (11:07.9) showed great endurance to win their respective categories.
3km Highlights: This distance saw our largest field of runners. Mason Janetzki clocked an incredible 11:37.5 to lead the pack, and Lily Dodd finished as the fastest female in 15:25.3.
5km Endurance: David Nziama Kaba took on the longest distance of the day, finishing the 5km course in a solid 28:14.2.

Community Spirit

One of the true highlights of the day wasn't just the running, but the atmosphere on the sidelines. It was fantastic to see such a high turnout of parents and friends cheering on every single runner. The sense of community continued after the running with a BBQ, allowing everyone to refuel and celebrate the students' efforts together.
