Learning About Location in Mathematics
Our Year 2 students have been busy learning about location and directions in Mathematics! They have been developing their understanding of position and location by learning how to read maps, follow directions and use positional language.
Students have been exploring how maps and keys help us understand where different places and objects are located. They have been learning to use a map key to identify symbols and features and follow directions to navigate around a map.
To put their learning into practice, students have been creating their own maps, including symbols and keys. They have enjoyed using their maps to give and follow directions, helping their classmates work out where to go.
It has been fantastic to see students building their mathematical understanding of location, position and direction while using their creativity to design their own maps!
