Principal's Reports

Student Representative Council:

Our SRC students have been working on some ideas to help the younger students know who they are and to see that they are approachable and kind. Last week, our SRC students had their photos on the wall of the Science room and went off to hide in the school grounds. The Prep/1/2 students had 15 minutes to find an SRC student. When a younger student found an SRC student (identified by wearing a purple sash), the younger students brought them back to the starting area and collected a prize. The SRC have some other ideas which they will put into place over the next few weeks. The students who chose to participate were very enthusiastic and had a lot of fun.

OpShop Grants:

Huge thanks to both the Bunyip Community OPSHOP and the Garfield Community Shop for providing grants to contribute to purchasing ipads for the junior school. Bunyip Community OPSHOP gave us a grant of $1000 and Garfield Community Shio gavve us a grant of $1863. We are so grateful for the community support. Thanks to Kristy Nielson for applying for these grants on behalf of Parents & Friends. Prep/1/2 are so excited as they will now have a class set of ipads to share between 2 classes, rather than sharing 1 set between 4 classes.

Mobile Phones:

A reminder that our school policy states that any students who bring a mobile phone to school must hand them in at the front office or give them to their classroom teacher to place in a lock box. Any students wearing a smart watch must have them in school mode. It is not appropriate for parents to be calling or messaging their children during the school day on their devices, unless an exemption has been approved by the school. Please help your child to demonstrate respect by following the school policy. 

Reading Night Prizes:

A number of students in Prep/1/2 received a prize today for reaching 200 nights of home reading. This is a fantastic effort! Regular home reading helps students to practise what they are learning at school and to develop a love of reading. As there is no assembly next week, due to the school disco, the students were presented with their prizes in their classrooms today.
