Thank you volunteers!

This term and last term, students from the Volunteer Service Club have been meeting on Thursday lunchtimes to sew pillowcases and crochet toy Octopi to donate to the Children’s Hospital Foundation.

Crocheted Octopuses provide comfort and security to premature babies by mimicking the feel of the umbilical cord, which helps to stabilise their heart rate and oxygen levels. The tentacles offer a familiar object for babies to grasp, preventing them from pulling at medical tubes and cords, and can reduce crying and improve their intake of oxygen.

We’d like to say THANK YOU to all students, staff and parents, who contributed in any way to our effort. We now have a box full of Octopi and pillowcases in the mail and on their way to the Children’s Hospital Foundation.

Stay tuned to hear about our final service-based activity for the year!
