Ngulu Nganjin

This term our school production, the musical Ngulu Nganjin, was held on October 27th and 28th at the Clocktower Centre in Moonee Ponds. The title means ‘Everyone’s Voice’ in Woi Wurrung language. Students in Years 4-6 put on quite a show for the school community, with a special finale performance of the whole cast with Birdz (Nathan Bird - CHPS parent) and his son Djali (4VG).
Ngulu Nganjin is a story of a group of students embarking on a fantastical ‘class excursion’ around Australia. Things don't exactly go to plan! On their journey, a colourful cast including a possum, a whale, a bask of crocodiles, a bale of turtles, an eastern water dragon and a murder of crows help the students to discover some of the amazing diversity of Australia’s Indigenous cultures, languages and countries, and finally lead them back to Naarm, their home. The reimagining of the original 2022 production was an ambitious project that developed new connections with First Peoples across the country as well as strengthening relationships formed in 2022. The 2025 performance included all original songs, a wonderfully-written script and sets, props, artwork and costumes all fashioned by our talented school community.
