Congratulations to the cast and crew of Roald Dahl's Matilda The Musical on an AMAZING start to the 2026 Wantirna College Production season. All shows sold out before opening night and audiences are raving about the show, the foyer experience and the music!
Opening Night

Our Tech Crew is made up of 24 students led by Assistant Principal, Andrew Lewis. They have worked alongside the cast throughout the Production rehearsal season, developing their skills in sound, lighting, set change and backstage management. On show days, they are the first on set and the last to leave. We thank them for their incredible energy and dedication, and congratulate them on a strong start to the 2026 Production season!

Our live Production Band includes many of our skilled Instrumental Music teachers. Mr Barratt, Mr Andrew, Ms Leigh, Miss Phillips, and Mr Howroyd were joined by professional musicians, many of whom participate annually in our productions.
The Victorian Schools Music Festival (VSMF), held at the Hawthorn Arts Centre, is an opportunity for students to experience performing at a leading Melbourne venue and watch performances from other schools. This year the Symphonic Band will perform on Mon 24 August and the Concert Band on Wed 26 August.
Following their performances, each ensemble receive tutoring from the adjudicator on performance techniques as a band, gaining valuable experience working with a guest conductor.
Consent is required for these events with all details now available on Compass.
Parents are welcome to come to Hawthorn Town Hall and watch the performance, alternatively there is a live feed link accessed by typing 'Victorian Schools Music Festival Live Feed' into your browser (https://vsmf.com.au/).

Thank you to everyone who volunteered to cook and sell sausages at last weekend's Bunnings BBQ in Vermont: Alma Kosmopoulos, Nicky Parasidis, Tony Aiello, Bronwyn Briers, Dev Vagel, Greg Miller, Marcia Timmers-Leitch, Tanya Heaton, Cristina Sandler, Ainsleigh Cu, Hayden & Sheriden Quinton, Conrad Coombs, Georgi Papenfuss, Neil Crighton, Victoria Koedyk and Laura Hunter.
A special thank you to Baker's Delight for donating bread and Helen Kennedy for donating sauces.
Thanks also to the POPA Committee for organising this event, everyone who came along and bought a sausage, and of course, Bunnings Vermont for giving us this opportunity and for their ongoing support of Wantirna College.
Together we raised over $2300 towards Instrument Repairs. Good Job!
