Year 7 Systems

8D have now begun building their electrical circuits that will make 2 LED/s flash, later in the students will design and create a scene or character to mount their LED’s. However, for now we have mapped out where our components will go, draw on the circuit diagram hammered in the nails to locate components, had a go at adding solder to the top of each nail, had a mini lesson on resistors and attached the two different resistors to their circuits. Wonderful work everyone!! 😊

Year 7 Charcoal Art

This week, the Year 7 Art students been creating artworks with charcoal. We have been learning about the different elements of art and how to use them to create artworks.

Our focus has been on how to create the illusion of depth and form by using a variety of tones. To do this, we have been exploring how to use charcoal. The students have found that the charcoal is a great tool to make really interesting shadows and highlights. We used some glass bottles and vases as our reference, and the artworks have been amazing so far!

It has been great to see the students explore different materials and push their creativity! I am looking forward to seeing how they adapt their ideas to oil pastels next week!

Bakery Café Class Explores the World of Pastry

Students in our Bakery Café class recently rolled up their sleeves for a hands-on lesson exploring the fascinating world of pastry.

They discovered the unique characteristics of four classic pastry types — flaky, buttery Puff Pastry; crumbly Shortcrust pastry; light and airy Choux pastry; and paper-thin Filo pastry — learning what makes each one special and how they're used in different baked goods.

The best part of the lesson? Getting to taste-test a range of delicious treats made from each pastry type, giving students a real appreciation for the skill and science behind great pastry-making!
