Boys EMR Netball

Wantirna College was lucky enough to have two boys teams enter and play last term in our area's competition, and our Wantirna 'A'team won all their games. As a result of this competition win, it qualified this team to go through to the next stage of competition, the Eastern Metropolitan Region (EMR) Championships. 

Competition was fierce, and as you would expect, it was a learning curve for all of the boys playing against very strong competition from other regions. We were very lucky to have many of the previous year's regional players with us again, so we knew what to expect, and we faced many of the same teams. 

The team were very confident going into our round games, and all the boys showed strong leadership and sporting skills both on and off the court. The team demonstrated strong sporting values of fairness, with everyone getting lots of turns, but also some really smart strategies, thinking about who they were playing against, but also what our team goals were. Their communication to each other on the court was outstanding, with the boys working extremely well as a team. 

While we did not win the EMR championship to proceed to the next level, I know all of the participants gave it 110% effort, had an enjoyable day, were proud of their skills, their matches and showed excellent sportsmanship throughout the day. It was a strong display of netball skills from some very talented group of netballers. Let's hope we can achieve an even better result next year.
